From Idea to Research: How Do R&D Areas at BAU Campus Support Student Production?

Learning in university life gains a different dimension by developing the knowledge acquired in classes through research, application and production processes. At BAU Campus, we aim to create an environment where our students can bring their ideas together with research processes. The components of our campus model include R&D areas, multidisciplinary laboratories and technology laboratories. Thus, we bring together different working environments where academic knowledge and application can be connected within the same campus structure.
The Innoversity model, which lies at the core of BAU Campus, treats technology and experience as active parts of university education. We design our campus as a hub where our students produce, discover and engage with a research culture. In this approach, which extends from artificial intelligence studies to entrepreneurship processes, we attach great importance to creating environments where students can develop their researcher identities.
We position R&D areas as one of the key components of this structure. Turning an idea into a research question, examining it through different methods, and having the resulting outcomes form the basis for new studies contribute to the development of the culture of production at the university. For students, this process can progress in different ways, from examining a topic encountered in classes in greater depth to teamwork and project development processes. This structure enables students to come into contact with perspectives outside their own fields of expertise and to develop their ideas with the contribution of different disciplines. The multidisciplinary laboratory approach on our campus also supports research and production to progress without being limited to a single academic field.
Translating ideas emerging from research into practice constitutes another aspect of the BAU Campus ecosystem. BAU Tekmer takes its place in the campus ecosystem as one of the structures where start-ups are supported with infrastructure, mentoring and networking opportunities from the MVP stage to their growth processes. Thus, different paths that can follow one another between research, project development and entrepreneurship can be formed.
At BAU Campus, we treat R&D areas as a part of the campus experience where our students can research a topic they are curious about, develop their ideas and carry them into production processes.
