YKS Turkey's Top-Ranked Student Chose BAU

Enes Salahaddin Coşkun, who ranked first in Turkey in the verbal score category of the Field Proficiency Test (AYT) in the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS), chose Bahçeşehir University (BAU) Faculty of Communication, Department of Cartoon and Animation for his university preference. Coşkun, who obtained a full score of 500 in the AYT verbal score category in the exam organized by the Measurement, Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM) with approximately 2.5 million candidates participating, decided to continue his education at Bahçeşehir University after the preference period began. The preference of 18-year-old Coşkun, a graduate of Kartal Imam Hatip High School, also aligned with his long-standing interest in animation.

Coşkun met with Prof. Dr Hasan Kemal Suher, Dean of the BAU Faculty of Communication, in the Bandırma district of Balıkesir where his family resides, and explained that the educational approach and communication opportunities offered by the university were influential in his preference for the BAU Department of Cartoon and Animation. Stating that BAU's teaching model and the opportunities it offers share similarities with the work he wants to do, Coşkun expressed that animation education was an important factor in his choice of department. Conveying that he has been interested in animation since his childhood, Coşkun said that he has been doing 2D and 3D modelling work and aims to develop his skills in this field with his university education.

The fact that a student ranking first in Turkey in the YKS directly turns to a creative field they are interested in shows that not only the exam result but also the student's long-term academic and professional goals can be decisive in university preferences. University education in fields that combine technical knowledge and creative production, such as animation, allows students to advance their existing interests through a structured educational process, get introduced to different production methods, and develop their own work.

Prof. Dr Hasan Kemal Suher, Dean of the BAU Faculty of Communication, also expressed his satisfaction with Enes Salahaddin Coşkun's preference. Suher stated that Coşkun would be able to establish relationships with the sector at an early stage during his education, benefit from internship experiences, and contact companies in the field of animation. Furthermore, he expressed that BAU's international activities offer various opportunities for students to continue their educational experiences in different countries.

Prof. Dr Esra Hatipoğlu, Rector of Bahçeşehir University, evaluated Coşkun's preference for BAU as a pleasing development for the university. Hatipoğlu wished Coşkun, who achieved first place in Turkey in the YKS, a university life full of success and shared their satisfaction in being by the student's side on his future journey. Thus, Enes Salahaddin Coşkun, who stood out with the result he achieved in the YKS 2026 process, stepped into a new phase where he will develop his interest in animation with his undergraduate education at the BAU Faculty of Communication.
